I think that both of these images are attractive not only because of the object photographed, but also because of the brilliant colors in each image. The first photo is a close-up of my dance costume from a few years ago. I think that the focal point is on the bottom left corner because that shade of fabric is much lighter than the dark green fabric in the rest of the picture. The left corner is also a focal point because it is in more focus whereas the rest of the picture becomes more blurry and the sequins begin to blend with one another. I think that the bright rainbow colors reflected in the sequins makes this photo attractive to the viewer. These colors also influence a person mentally because clear bright colors are often associated with something beautiful. This photo demonstrates pattern, because the circular sequins are repeated throughout the entire image. This repetition also gives the photo a sense of unity because it keeps the photo consistent. The other image is a photo of a bracelet of mine. I like the composition of this photo because it breaks up the image into the rule of thirds with the focal point not being located exactly in the middle. This photo's warm tones make it attractive to the viewer. I also like to take pictures of things that are slightly translucent because I love the effect of light filtering through an object. In this picture, I like how light has created a rainbow of colors within the gems and it is neat how these colors are also reflected onto the surface that the bracelet is sitting on. This photo also displays unity because the color in the chains connecting the gems is very similar to the color of the wall in the background. This balance of color unifies the photo as a whole. One thing that I find very interesting about these two photos is the effect of the source of lighting. The first image was light by outside lighting, giving the entire photo a cool tone with an overall shade of blue. The second image, on the otherhand, was given light by a lamp, casting the entire image with a yellow tone and giving the photo a warmer shade.
