Andy Goldsworthy Emulation

Andy Goldsworthy is an artist who has deep reverence for nature. He expresses these feelings of respect and awe by manipulating objects in nature in order to create swirling and flowing forms to take photographs of. For the top photo, I referenced photographs of Andy Goldsworthy that depicted swirling lines. I arranged flowers in a specific pattern, creating a feeling of peace and flow. For the middle photograph, I used my imagination in combination with a Goldsworthy photo that had shown colorful leaves or rocks arranged in a circle. I used these pictures as inspiration and decided to add my own twist by not showing the complete circles of dandelions in order to add more interest. For the bottom photo, I was inspired by an Andy Goldsworthy picture that depicted a set of rocks arranged in a swirling pattern. I added my own style by replacing these rocks with flowers, which also helped unify my three photographs together. In the top photo, movement is created because the line of flowing pink flowers draws the viewer's eye around the entire picture. A feeling of space is also created because the line of flowers fades in the distance and are smaller than the flowers in the front. In the middle photo, a dominant principle is emphasis. The line of dandelions stands out because the rest of the photo is in neutral colors. In the bottom photo, movement is a dominant principle once again because the flowing spiral of flowers moves the viewer's eye across the entire photo.
